Once registration opens, all out-of-catchment student registrations are to be placed on a waitlist that is prioritized according to Board Policy #9320 and Regulation #9320.1 (Section 4.A). Regardless of capacity, Principals consult with their Assistant Superintendent prior to the placement of waitlisted students.

    In-Catchment Waitlists:
Where existing and/or projected enrolment exceeds the building capacity to the extent that not all in-catchment registration can be accommodated, student registrations are to be placed on an in-catchment waitlist that is prioritized according to Board Policy #9320 and Regulation #9320.1 (section 4.A). The Principal (or delegate) will work with the Assistant Superintendent and nearby schools to locate an available and suitable placement for in-catchment students who cannot be accommodated at their neighbourhood school.

    District Placements:
Notwithstanding the above, the District may make individual student placements in consultation with schools on an as needed basis.

  • If your child is currently in grade 7 in an elementary school in our school district, they will be registered into their catchment secondary school automatically. You would only need to register your child if they currently attend an elementary school in another district and wish to attend a secondary school in the Surrey School District.

If you would like to enquire about registering for a school that is not in your catchment, please contact the school directly to ensure the school can accommodate your request.
